I am a Certified Professional Midwife serving central Kentucky and surrounding areas. My husband, Steve and I live in Stamping Ground, KY where we are raising six amazing kids. My journey to birth work and midwifery began as a young woman. When the joys of my first two pregnancies both ended in unplanned, unwanted, and ultimately unnecessary cesareans I was left feeling strangely alone and defeated. Eventually, I found support through the Louisville chapter of the International Cesarean Network (ICAN). When I became pregnant with my third child, I knew that I would not have another unnecessary cesarean. I began to learn that there was hope for mothers who desired something more than the traditional medical model of obstetrics which so often forces mothers and their babies into a reality they neither planned or needed.
With the successful at home vaginal birth after two cesareans (VBA2C or HBA2C) of my third child, a passion was ignited within me that would set me on the path I am on today. I attended my first birth as a midwifery apprentice on Thanksgiving Day of 2010. In March of 2010, I completed the DONA approved birth doula training. I completed the Certified Lactation Counselor training that same month in order to be able to offer women support as they endeavor to give their babies the best possible start in life through breastfeeding. In 2012 I completed the Lamaze Childbirth Educator training. As I continued my midwifery training with a local Certified Professional Midwife, I began serving women as a doula and childbirth educator.
